NEW TENDERS (39 New)
QUEENSLAND ICT SMART GUIDE
A new ICT Smart Guide is currently being developed to replace the ICT Products and Services Guide and will include a range of enhanced features and functionality. The new guide will be an effective marketing tool for Queensland ICT firms and will be the primary promotion point for the Queensland Government to showcase the State's ICT capabilities.
The ICT Smart Guide will also help identify firms for supply and export opportunities, as well as partnering opportunities. Increasingly, it will be used by ICT Purchasing Officers within Local and State Government Agencies to obtain more information about GITC accredited suppliers.
POLICY NEWS
ICT ADVISORY BOARD STRENGTHENED TO BOOST AUSTRALIA’S ICT SECTOR
The Government has strengthened its ICT advisory group to include peak business bodies to ensure the needs of ICT business users are also considered in the development of ICT priorities, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, announced last Friday. “The Ministerial ICT advisory group plays an important role in providing the Government with strategic advice about the development of new ICT priorities,” Senator Coonan said. “ICT offers significant potential to further build economic growth, prosperity and quality of life for all Australians. “Strengthening this group will ensure we identify our key areas of strength and capitalise on relevant export and trade opportunities for the effective deployment of ICT.”
BIG R&D DOLLARS FOR INNOVATIVE AUSTRALIAN PROJECTS
Breakthrough technology that would see 10,000 litres of recycled water produced daily in multi-unit residential buildings is one of the latest projects awarded Australian Government Commercial Ready funding. Federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane today announced grants worth $12.7 million for 12 Australian projects under the latest national round of the flagship innovation program. “The Commercial Ready program continues to help innovative Australian companies turn clever ideas into successful commercial products,” Mr Macfarlane said.
ICT: START HERE, GO ANYWHERE
The Australian Information Industry Association and other leaders in the ICT industry, education and the Victorian Government are working together to promote the career diversity and opportunities available for young people within the ICT industry. 'ICT: start here, go anywhere' is a collaborative effort which aims to drive further interest in studying information and communication technology (ICT). While the ICT industry has experienced steady growth over the last few years, and demand for ICT products and solutions continues to surge in a variety of industries, there is again talk of possible future skills shortages.
