NEW AIIA BOARD
The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has announced a new Board of Directors, tasked with leading Australia’s information and communication technology (ICT) industry in 2007. AIIA’s influential Board of Directors sets the strategic direction the ICT industry. The board determines policies and positions on important issues and works with governments, industry and media to improve the business environment for the ICT industry – both locally and on a global stage.
EXTENSION OF TIME FOR CONNECT AUSTRALIA APPLICATIONS
The deadline for submitting proposals under the Broadband Connect Infrastructure Program and the Clever Networks program—Innovative Services Delivery element have been extended to Monday 18 December 2006, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, announced today. “This follows views expressed by some applicants who believe a brief extension would enhance the overall outcomes for both programs,” Senator Coonan said.
VICTORIAN ICT COMPANIES MIXING IN THE BILLIONAIRES CLUB
19 Victorian ICT companies have this week showcased their companies in front of some of the world's greatest entrepreneurs, Minister for Information and Communication Technology Minister Marsha Thomson said today. "The Bracks Government has secured Victoria's position as "International Partner State" for TiECon Delhi 2006, one of the world's largest entrepreneurs' forums in New Delhi from 26 to 28 October." Minister Thomson said.
INNOVATION AND INVESTMENT FUND FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Building on the success of the Structural Adjustment Fund for South Australia to facilitate and attract new investment in South Australia, and the decision of a number of companies to close their operations in South Australia, the Australian and South Australian Governments have announced a $30 million package to assist with industry development in South Australia. The package will support new investment that will create sustainable job opportunities in South Australia.
