Major Intelligent Island initiatives announced

The Federal Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, and Tasmanian Deputy Premier, Bryan Green, welcomed the announcement of two major Tasmanian information and communications technology (ICT) initiatives under the $40 million Intelligent Island program.

Tasmanian ICT companies interested in submitting for MAPP funding should obtain a copy of the guidelines and an expression of interest form. Expressions of Interest must be received by 5pm, Wednesday 21 June 2006.

Description:The SSAT is currently updating its Network Operating System from a Windows NT 4 domain to Novell SUES/Linux OES. As part of the project, the current desktop and laptop fleet are being replaced with new hardware and the installation of Windows XP & Office 2003.
