AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY $15.2 BILLION LARGER THANKS TO TELCO REFORMS

The Australian economy is $15.2 billion larger due to Australian Government reforms to liberalise the telecommunications industry, according to an Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) report presented to Parliament today. “Since the Howard Government deregulated the telecommunications market in 1997, the Australian economy has grown by $15.2 billion, with flow-on effects worth $1.9 billion in terms of household consumption in 2005-06 alone,” Senator Coonan said.

REMOTE SENSING INDUSTRY AHEAD IN GLOBAL MARKET

Australia is in a unique position to offer innovative down-stream solutions to the global market for interpreting satellite imagery, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry Tourism and Resources, Bob Baldwin said today. Ahead of the opening the 13th Australasian Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Conference in Canberra tomorrow, Mr Baldwin said Australia had a significant industry applying satellite data.

National Child Care Management System

Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (Canberra, ACT)

Description:The Child Care Management System (CCMS) is a national child care computer system that will provide the best information on child care supply and usage that has ever been available across Australia for families, services and the Government. The new system represents a significant investment by the Government in improving the supply of information and accountability across the child care sector. The CCMS will bring all approved child care services online to standardise and simplify the administration of Child Care Benefit (CCB). Provision of Professional Services for the Development of a RailCorp Telecommunications Strategy

Description:The operation of the NSW Metropolitan rail network is heavily dependent upon a variety of communications and control systems. Historically, these systems and the associated infrastructure have been developed specifically for NSW and the infrastructure supporting these systems is largely owned and managed internally. Supply and Installation of Digital Image Acquisition System (DIAS)

Description:This request for Tender (RFT) covers the supply of a digital aerial camera/sensor, processing hardware and software to enable production of orthorectified photogrammetric quality imagery to meet the demands of the Department of Lands and users of this imagery. The system should have the ability to: (a) Provide an end to end solution for the capture, processing and delivery of orthorectified softcopy/hardcopy aerial imagery to a spatial accuracy. (b) Provide within a single pass, the capture of Red, Green & Blue bands as well as Panchromatic and near Infra Red bands. (c) The system will incorporate a Global Navigation Satellite System receiver and an Interial Measuring Unit within the capture technology which will be compatible with the operation of the Department's Leica RC30 film camera.
