| Description: | Re-development of the NZMuseums website. The NZMuseums website: http://www.nzmuseums.co.nz , managed by National Services Te Paerangi, currently provides directory listings for over 350 New Zealand museums and associated art and history organisations and attracts approximately 5,000 site visitors per month. In recent years, National Services Te Paerangi, in consultation with the museum sector, has explored how this website could be redeveloped to deliver online collection objects and taonga information. The most important objectives of the NZMuseums redevelopment are: · To enable small-to-medium-sized New Zealand museums to showcase their collection objects on the web by providing them with a web-based data entry and administration tool (together referred to in this document as the web-based admin interface), thereby reducing technical, financial and resourcing barriers for individual museums to have a web presence. · To make these objects accessible via the Internet to the public in general, as well as researchers, educators and students. |
