SMART GRID, SMART CITY

The Australian Government has committed up to $100 million to develop the Smart Grid, Smart City demonstration project in partnership with the energy sector.

The initiative will support the installation of Australia's first commercial-scale smart grid. Smart grids combine advanced communication, sensing and metering infrastructure with existing energy networks. This enables a combination of applications that can deliver a more efficient, robust and consumer-friendly electricity network. Smart grid infrastructure uses sensors, meters, digital devices and analytic tools to automate, monitor, and control the two-way flow of energy from power plant to plug.

CONROY - AGREEMENT TO DELIVER IMPROVED INDIGENOUS COMMUNICATIONS

The Rudd Government welcomed a new framework to guide the delivery of communications services to Indigenous communities. The framework was agreed at the Online and Communications Council (OCC) of Australian, State, Territory and Local Governments in Alice Springs.

Tender 01 FSANZ Modelling and Analysis Platform Development Project Food Standards Australia New Zealand (Barton, ACT)
Description:	Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is a science based statutory agency that develops food standards for Australia and New Zealand. FSANZ conducts dietary risk assessments that are supported by a large quantity of scientific data from two custom-built database and modelling applications. FSANZ is planning to release a Request for Tender (RFT 2009-10/11) on 4 December 2009, for the development of a modelling and analysis platform to replace its legacy databases. Existing functions are to be combined with new capabilities into a single application. Required capabilities of the application include consolidated data storage, mining, processing, modelling, analysis and reporting. The new system will be called Harvest and is expected to be in place by the end of June 2011.

Tender 07 Finance Support System Upgrade Project - System Integration Services Australian Securities and Investments Commission (Canberra, ACT)
Description:	This RFT relates only to the FSS Systems Integration component of the FSS Upgrade Project. The FSS Systems Integration component of the FSS Upgrade Project involves integrating the FSS Software for the FMIS and RMIS. ASIC's preference is to engage a single contractor to design a Solution and implement the FSS Software for both the FMIS and RMIS. Description:	The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) is the global network of arts councils and ministries of culture. IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts will co-host the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture, which will take place in Melbourne, 3 to 6 October 2011.
