2009 ALCATEL-LUCENT BROADBAND CHALLENGE FOR THE SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

The Telecommunications Society of Australia is delighted to announce that in the third annual round of the Eckermann-TJA Prize, it will be sponsored again by Alcatel-Lucent Australia, doubling the previous prize money to AU$20,000.

The Eckermann-TJA Prize will be awarded to the best paper offered to the Telecommunications Journal of Australia (TJA) by a deadline of 5 pm (Australian Eastern Summer Time) on 3 November 2009 (Melbourne Cup Day). The best entries, including the winning paper or papers, will be published in the February 2010 issue of TJA.

Tender 03 IP Rights Product Quality Review System (PQRS) IP Australia (Canberra, ACT)
Description:	IP Australia is seeking the services of a suitable provider to provide and implement an alternative COTS solution to IP Australia's existing Product Quality Review System. This solution must have the ability to be hosted and managed externally; outside the IP Australia IT environment The IP Rights Division (Patents, Trade Marks, Designs, Plant Breeder's Rights, Customer Operation Group) currently perform product quality review. The areas within the IP Rights Division utilise different business processes and IT systems (databases and/or excel spreadsheets) for product quality review. An IP Rights Division Quality Review identified several areas of improvement to the product quality review process. One of the key improvements relates to improving the consistency of approach to product quality review (i.e.: business processes and IT systems) across the IP Rights Division. An IP Rights electronic Product Quality Review System (PQRS) is viewed as paramount in achieving the improvements identified by the Quality Review, particularly in terms of improving the consistency of approach to product quality review.

Tender 06 Provide Logistics Information Systems Support Services Department of Defence - DSG (Canberra, ACT)
Description:	You are invited to submit a tender to provide logistics information systems support services under a standing offer panel arrangement. The materiel information systems branch (MATIS) is responsible for the through-life support of the standard defence supply system (SDSS) applications and interfaces, as well as the materiel, engineering and miscellaneous systems outside of the supply chain domain. This includes the introduction of new functionality, system modifications, maintenance of the approved configuration and provision of customer service. Three years ago, the commonwealth successfully established a logistics information systems technical support services (LISTSS) standing offer panel comprising of eight suppliers, selected through open tender against each of the scope of services tasks. This panel was utilised numerous times over the period to fulfil various technical support services. With each new requirement, a tasking statement was submitted to the panel, and suppliers would tender against the requirements. Pre-vetting the panel expedited the tendering process without compromising on quality. The commonwealth requires the establishment of a new LISTSS standing offer panel for the provision of similar services for various minor project and sustainment activities for its logistics information systems including the SDSS.

Tender 15 Provision of an Integrated Solution of Mobile Automatic Number Plate Recognition (MANPR) and In-Car Video (ICV) NSW Police Force (Sydney, NSW)
Description:	NSW Police Force is seeking responses to provide a fully integrated solution of Mobile Automatic Number Plate Recognition (MANPR) and In-Car Video (ICV). NSWPF seeks to identify Respondents that are able to provide these Services and the objective is to ensure that all NSWPF vehicle modifications are completed to acceptable quality standards in a timely and efficient manner. The preference of the NSWPF is to select one service provider for the provision of all Services within the scope of this RFT to ensure end to end accountability; this includes all Service Providers and its Sub Contractors.
