2007 TELSTRA BUSINESS AWARDS
The Telstra Business Awards program was introduced by Telstra in 1992 to recognise the achievements and enterprising spirit of small businesses across Australia. Formerly known as the Telstra Small Business Awards, the program was developed to help profile Australian businesses.
In 2007, there are five Awards categories. An entrant is automatically assigned to one of the categories based on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees the business employs and be considered for the AMP Innovation Award. To enter the Awards, the first step is to nominate your business or nominate another business. The next step is to complete your entry.
POLICY AND ASSOCIATION NEWS
COONAN - $70 000 SPONSORSHIP TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN ICT
The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, today announced $70 000 in Australian Government funding to support women in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. “Women account for less than 18 per cent of all ICT employees in the Australian ICT sector. The Australian Government is committed to increasing the productivity of Australia’s ICT sector through the improved retention and progression of female ICT professionals,” Senator Coonan said.
COONAN - ICT SECRETS REVEALED
The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, last night recognised Australia’s most innovative ICT companies at the awards night for the fifth Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation competition. Senator Coonan presented the 23 winning ICT companies with their awards at a function held at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Prizes are awarded across seven categories.
VIC STATE - 2007 VICTORIAN ICT INDUSTRY SURVEY
MMV requests the participation of your company in this statewide survey of the Victorian ICT industry to ensure that its programs and policies meet the current and future needs of the ICT industry and your company. This short survey focuses on key quantitative measures of the ICT industry and builds on more extensive research undertaken in October 2006. Aggregate data from both surveys will be made available to participants in the near future.

AIIA - INFORMATION INDUSTRY APPLAUDS AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ICT APPRENTICESHIP INITIATIVE
As the ICT skills shortage starts to bite, the peak body for the information and communication technology (ICT) industry in Australia has applauded the Australian Government’s commitment to boost the numbers of ICT workers in the public sector. The Australian Information Industry Association’s (AIIA’s) Chief Executive Officer, Sheryle Moon, today congratulated the federal government for taking the lead to address ICT skills shortages and implement initiatives such as the Australian Public Service (APS) ICT apprenticeship program.
ACS - PROCUREMENT POLICIES AND INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT KEY FOCUS OF ACS NSW ICT PANEL DISCUSSION
