2007 TELSTRA BUSINESS AWARDS

The Telstra Business Awards program was introduced by Telstra in 1992 to recognise the achievements and enterprising spirit of small businesses across Australia. Formerly known as the Telstra Small Business Awards, the program was developed to help profile Australian businesses.

In 2007, there are five Awards categories. An entrant is automatically assigned to one of the categories based on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees the business employs and be considered for the AMP Innovation Award. COONAN - $70 000 SPONSORSHIP TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN ICT

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, today announced $70 000 in Australian Government funding to support women in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. “Women account for less than 18 per cent of all ICT employees in the Australian ICT sector. The Australian Government is committed to increasing the productivity of Australia’s ICT sector through the improved retention and progression of female ICT professionals,” Senator Coonan said.

COONAN - ICT SECRETS REVEALED

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, last night recognised Australia’s most innovative ICT companies at the awards night for the fifth Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation competition. AIIA - INFORMATION INDUSTRY APPLAUDS AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ICT APPRENTICESHIP INITIATIVE

As the ICT skills shortage starts to bite, the peak body for the information and communication technology (ICT) industry in Australia has applauded the Australian Government’s commitment to boost the numbers of ICT workers in the public sector. The Australian Information Industry Association’s (AIIA’s) Chief Executive Officer, Sheryle Moon, today congratulated the federal government for taking the lead to address ICT skills shortages and implement initiatives such as the Australian Public Service (APS) ICT apprenticeship program.

Description:The Department invites suitably qualified organisations to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) for the Establishment of an IT Services Panel for the Provision of ICT Consultants and Contractors. The Department will use the EOI to shortlist suitably qualified organisations for a select Request for Tender (RFT) for the provision of personnel under an IT Services Panel. Provision of Over the Phone Information Training Services for the OSCAR Application

Currently, DPS provides Internet access, which includes World Wide Web and email to Senators, Members, their staff, and staff of the parliamentary departments. The Internet is used to host parliamentary information and to stream parliamentary proceedings. Since the introduction of the Internet, the importance and growth in the use of this service has been rapid. At present, the monthly consumption of Internet data is one terabyte.

GNSS CORS Equipment Acquisition to Support GPSnet Modernisation and Densification

Supply of Unlabelled Data Tape Cartridges

Bureau of Meteorology (Melbourne, VIC)

Description:The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is seeking tenders from suppliers for the supply of 870 unlabelled tapes for use with StorageTek T9940B tape drives under a Standing Offer Arrangement. An additional 600-1200 9940 tapes maybe purchased over the following 12 months. The T9940B tapes must be new and certified for use with StorageTek T9940B tape drives. In the past, the Bureau has had occasions where the quality of tapes or batches of tapes or integrity of the tape drives being used has been called into question. The Bureau desires the successful Tenderer to commit to assisting the Bureau, at no additional cost, in identifying problem areas in the event 2% or more tape media are found to have write or read errors. Such assistance must be provided in a timely manner.
