BAILEY - SMALL BUSINESS CAN GET BETTER USE OUT OF TECHNOLOGY

Small Business Minister Fran Bailey says while small business has embraced IT, the sector could further benefit by exploring more ways of using computer technology. "A recent CPA Australia survey shows that while more than 90 per cent of small businesses use computers for book-keeping, more than half of small businesses could get even more value from their IT investment," Fran Bailey, Minister for Small Business and Tourism, said today.

SME Trust in the Online Environment

Description:The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (the Department) has undertaken preliminary research into trust in the online environment. The first phase of the project involved a survey of consumer online behaviours, perceptions and security practices followed by focus group work to further explore the issues. The second phase of this project seeks to understand the mechanisms underpinning small and medium enterprise (SME) behaviours, perceptions and security practices online, covering the perspectives of SMEs as users of online services and also as providers of online services. A focus group study, which is the focus of this brief, will form part of this second phase.

Provision of Database Development for the Farm Management Deposits Scheme
