CONROY - GOVERNMENT WELCOMES ACCC'S GUIDANCE ON ACCESS TO FTTN NETWORKS

Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, today welcomed a report from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) assessing the G9 consortium's special access undertaking to build a fibre to the node (FTTN) network.

CONROY - DIGITAL SWITCHOVER DATE CONFIRMED

Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, today confirmed that the first firm steps had been taken on the road to completing switchover by the end of 2013. Senator Conroy said that the switchover to digital television was important to all Australians because it offers benefits to viewers such as improved picture and sound quality and greater program choice. It will also make spectrum available for alternate uses such as new mobile services, a fourth television licence and wireless broadband services.

AUSTRADE - AUSSIE IT FIRMS URGED TO PARTNER WITH INDIA

Austrade, the Australian Government’s export development agency, is encouraging local Australian IT companies to take advantage of the growing opportunities in India’s $18.5 billion IT market by attending the sub-continent’s most prestigious trade event, the annual NASSCOM India Leadership Forum. Austrade and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) are taking a mission of Australian ICT firms to attend the conference. NICTA - REALISING VISION FOR CANBERRA’S ICT KNOWLEDGE PRECINCT WITH OPENING OF NEW LABORATORY

The Canberra operations of NICTA, Australia’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence, has moved into its new premise, which is set to become the hub of innovative ICT activity in the Australian Capital Territory. Australian Capital Territory Chief Minister Mr Jon Stanhope officially opened NICTA’s new facilities today, which will bring together NICTA’s three offices in Canberra, housing the current 164 staff and students and providing expansion to 220.

Capital City WAN Services

Student Email Service Replacement for DET (Amended - New Date)

Description:This RFT covers the provision of a student email service replacement for the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) for the period 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2011. DET provides all NSW government school and TAFE students with an email service as part of an initiative announced by the NSW Premier in November 2000. The continued provision of a student email service is a vital component of DET's ICT Strategy 2006 - 2008. Installation of Indicator Housings for SPI - Sydney North

Description:RailCorp owns and maintains the rail infrastructure in the greater metropolitan Sydney region and delivers the CityRail and CountryLink passenger services. RailCorp has three major operating groups responsible for delivering rail services, namely; Train Services, Customer Services, and Infrastructure Group. These three major operating divisions are supported by a number of corporate divisions including Corporate Finance, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Strategy, Safety, Human Resources, Corporate Counsel, Property and Communications and Sectorisation. ICT is responsible for the delivery of effective solutions to meet RailCorp’s information technology needs. The Station Passenger Information (SPI) team, within the ICT, is responsible for installation and maintenance of all SPI projects and devices with installations geographically bounded by the RailCorp electric train network. RailCorp requires the design of brackets, and installation of RailCorp provided racks, platform and concourse housings and associated equipment and associated services on the Northern and North Shore Lines (26 stations plus Homebush Control Centre).

Description:This EOI seeks to identify commercially available software packages that provide a total or partial fault management solution that could be used to manage electronic field devices used in traffic management across the state of New South Wales.
