GV Health requires information to be extracted from the GL and various other financial and patient data extracts from GV Health data systems that will provide the hospital with auditing and submission of data to the DHHS Reporting and analysis of clinical costing information. The provision of these services will be for commencement for the 2017/2018 financial year. GV Health is required to report costs for all operational funded activity to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS ), and is expected to maintain activity and costing systems as part of good hospital management practice. The service provider must have the ability to provide clinical costing services for GV Health utilising appropriate and approved costing methodology which matches the requirements of the DHHS. The service provider is to assist GV Health in providing the DHHS with annual information of cost data via the Victorian Cost Data Collection (VCDC). This collection forms the basis for the cost data which is submitted to the National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) and managed by the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA). The IHPA uses cost data from all jurisdictions for classification development purposes and to determine the National Efficient Price (NEP). The NEP is used to calculate the Commonwealth’s contribution for activity-based funded public hospital services.
