Business Process Modelling Services
TransGrid
Closed: 3/05/2011
TransGrid has established a project (Business Process Modelling System – BPMS) to deliver business process modelling capability across the enterprise in a standard and consistent way. The proposed BPMS will allow model authors in business units to create business process models and store/publish them into a central repository. The published models will be available for searching, viewing, sharing and collaboration among staff. The BPMS will be based on MS Visio 2010 Premium Edition and MS SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition and Visio Services. Business process models will be created using MS Visio 2010 Premium Edition by following the Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) standard. The models will be published to the SharePoint repository using Visio services. The SharePoint 2010 platform currently being implemented by the Principal’s new Intranet (the Wire) project will host the published models. Initially about 15 model authors are expected. Staff will be able to access the published models via the Wire without the need for Visio installed on their PCs. The project will establish the modelling standards, templates, model validation rules and configuration requirements to enable the consistent use of Visio 2010 for business process modelling across the enterprise. It will also create a Proof of Concept that includes the Overall TransGrid Business Process hierarchy and detailed models of two key business processes. It is expected that the project will be implemented by a Tenderer experienced in delivering Business Process Modelling System projects. The project will be managed by the Principal’s Project Manager and will be delivered using the Principal’s project methodology. The successful Tenderer must be willing to adopt and adhere to this methodology.

Enterprise Data Warehousing Innovation Project (EDWIP)
Australian Bureau of Statistics
Closed: 22/03/2012
In short, the scope of the EDWIP RFEOI is: Data Virtualisation; Data Warehousing – Traditional Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and Analytics; Data Warehousing – ‘Big Data’ and ‘NOSQL’ environments. The mission of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is “to assist and encourage informed decision making, research and discussion by leading a high quality, objective and responsive national statistical service”. In order to stay relevant to the modern world, ABS and other National Statistical Organisations (NSOs) need enhanced and more agile statistical infrastructures that facilitate the production and in-depth analysis of coherent statistical information from multiple sources. In response to these challenges, the ABS has launched a major transformation program, ABS 2017, to re-engineer its business processes to focus on providing services and information solutions through assembly of data and data processes, rather than focussing on ‘made to order’ processes and products. ABS imagines a future where the volume of data available to support decision making within the national statistical system, not all of which is managed by the ABS, grows exponentially, increasing consumer demands to know: What data sources are available, how each can be accessed and how their quality can be assessed (fitness for purpose); and How to compare and integrate data from multiple sources to address the user’s requirements. Industry is invited through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to describe capabilities to support the ABS in developing an enterprise data warehousing solution as described in the EOI documentation. Respondents will also be invited to identify any existing government supply contracts and relationships that may be accessed to facilitate efficient procurement of the offered capabilities.
