The National Archives is seeking to engage a suitably qualified organisation to undertake the supply, installation and commissioning of computer software for an Audiovisual Archive Management System (AVAMS). It is anticipated that the software products offered will be delivered in conjunction with a range of services and other deliverables. These will all combine to form the entirety of the AVAMS Solution. The National Archives undertakes to manage, preserve and make accessible the archives of the Australian government. This includes approximately 600,000 audiovisual assets in a variety of formats, comprised of motion picture films, videos, audio recordings and digital formats created by Australian Government broadcasting authorities and other government agencies. Therefore the National Archives requires the AVAMS Solution to support its audiovisual archives management functions. These functions include: transfer (acquisition) and cataloguing of physical and digital audiovisual materials from Commonwealth agencies; storage, movement, preservation, copying and access to these audiovisual assets. The AVAMS Solution is particularly intended to improve the National Archives’ ability to manage both its already considerable holdings of physical audiovisual assets and the expected growth in digital audiovisual assets.
